Your braces have been cemented to your mouth with a strong dental adhesive. This is designed to hold fast to the iterative tension applied during your routine adjustment sessions. Each session scheduled at four-to-six week intervals will move your teeth one step closer to their ideal alignment.

Consistent adjustment sessions are a critical for keeping the duration of the realignment to a minimum. If you know of an upcoming scheduling conflict, you should call 704-215-4430 to set up an alternative appointment.

Each adjustment session is also a good opportunity to replace spacers, bands or other pieces of hardware that have suffered a little wear and tear.

It’s not unheard of for pieces of orthodontic hardware to suffer a little wear and tear. If you’ve noticed a problem spot, you should let Dr. James B. Macomson know. They can often repair or replace the component during that same appointment.

Your appointment is also a good opportunity to ask any oral hygiene questions. If you’ve been struggling to clean around a specific area, we can advise you on new oral hygiene tools and techniques to help you maintain good oral hygiene.

If you are due for your next adjustment session or some part of your braces is giving you trouble, you should call 704-215-4430 to set up your next appointment at James B. Macomson, DDS, MSO, PA, which is our Gastonia, North Carolina, orthodontic clinic.
